Tracking the U.S. unemployment rate just got a whole lot easier. Whether you’re looking to track the unemployment rate for the entire U.S., state, city or county, Google is now making it possible by using technical data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau’s Population Division.
The data is already available from sources such as the US Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but presenting the data in a meaningful manner has not been easy… until now. Google is trying to make it easier to find data through a Google search and to help users better understand the data with its charts.
To be presented with this data, simply perform a search on Google from something like ‘unemployment rate U.S.‘ and the first item returned in your results is a small image displaying the data. (See image above) Simply click the result and then you can slice and dice the data by State, City, and Counties.
