Social Media Fopaux

Finding an hourly job in this economy is proving to be difficult. You’ve filled our numerous online job applications and no one is giving you a call for a job interview. Now you’re asking yourself what am I doing wrong? Am I not qualified?

Maybe not. Maybe the reason you’re not getting a call for that job interview has something to do with your participation in social media. A recent study from Microsoft states that 70% of HR professionals admit to rejecting a candidate for a job due to the internet behavior.

As a job seeker you need to pay attention to what you say on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Are you talking with a potty mouth or posting photos of yourself in embarrassing circumstances? You have to ask yourself something every-time you post something on a social media site. “If my boss or potential employer were to see this, would I be fired or get hired?”

Too many times people don’t think before they tweet.

If you’re in the middle of a job search you need to be aware that everything you say and do is public information and is just a Google search away.
