Working at Albertsons

At Albertsons, we pride ourselves on our unique blend of grocery and general merchandise retail offerings. If you’re interested in an hourly or management position, our stores offer you many great options.

If you have an outgoing personality that enjoys interacting with the public you will make a great fit for one of the many hourly jobs available in our stores. We offer both full-time and part-time jobs that include: Cashier, Courtesy Clerks, Customer Service Clerks, Loss Prevention, Pharmacy Technicians, Stock Clerks and many more hourly positions.

Pros:

• Albertsons offers a flexible schedule, strong leadership, and easy to communicate with management. Also, the work environment is very friendly.
• The work is easy, the pay is comparable to other similar hourly jobs. Where I worked we had very flexible scheduling, and the management I worked with were all nice people.
• The pay was good and there were medical benefits for people working at least 20 hours a week.

Cons:

• You are only allowed to work as a courtesy clerk until you are 18 years of age. That requirement makes it difficult to move ahead if you start while in school.
• Working for a grocery store is not a glamorous job nor fashionable. The hourly wage is pretty standard for the grocery retail industry but unfortunately it’s still barely above minimum wage.
• Not everyone can be taught common sense. The competent employees struggle with those who can’t perform the simple tasks that are required on a day-to-day basis. This caused a high employee turn-around rate at the location where I worked.

Job Titles & Pay

Hourly wages and yearly salary information obtained from public employment sources. You can expect hourly wages to vary from store-to-store based upon location, your level of experience and the job type (full-time or part-time jobs).

• Cashier: $6.00 – $20.00/hour
• Courtesy Clerk: $6.00 – $12.00/hour
• Customer Service Clerk: $8.00 – $11.00/hour
• Department Manager: $14.00 – $21.00/hour
• Journeyman Clerk: $13.00 – $19.00/hour
• Loss Prevention: $14.00 – $15.00/hour
• Pharmacy Technician: $14.00 – $17.00/hour
• Pharmacist: $64,000 – $125,000/year
• Stock Clerk: $8.00 – $18.00/hour
